Adshel is proud to announce that it has successfully been granted Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).

Adshel is the first certified Australian Street Furniture supplier able to offer a Chain of Custody guarantee under the FSC guidelines. This is a significant achievement that follows the recent acquisition of Town and Park Furniture by Adshel, and the company’s efforts over many years to supply responsibly managed timber.

As a market leader, Adshel supports sustainability across its infrastructure and media operations and actively aims to reduce its impact on the environment. In recent years the company has developed a far-ranging suite of initiatives which support its commitment to a green future ranging from the development of solar powered street furniture, the use of environmentally friendly cleaning and maintenance products, an ongoing policy to reduce water usage, as well as participation in the DECC Sustainability Advantage Program and promotional support for Greenpeace’s Good Wood Guide.

The recent award of Chain of Custody Certification is further evidence of the company's long term green commitment.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) founded in 1993 is a non-profit international forest management organization that is supported by the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace and the Australian Conservation Foundation with the purpose of ensuring that timber is sourced and processed responsibly.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests. Environmentally appropriate forest management ensures that the harvest of timber and non-timber products maintains the forest's biodiversity, productivity and ecological processes. Socially beneficial forest management helps both local people and society at large to enjoy long term benefits and also provides strong incentives to local people to sustain the forest resources and adhere to long-term management plans.

  • FSC is a stakeholder system for promoting responsible management of the world's forests.
  • Through consultative processes, it sets international standards for responsible forest management.
  • It accredits independent third party organizations who can certify forest managers and forest product producers to FSC standards.

  • It's product label allows consumers worldwide to recognize products that support the growth of responsible forest management worldwide.
  • FSC undertakes marketing programs and information services that contribute to the mission of promoting responsible forestry worldwide.
  • Over the past 13 years, over 90 million hectares in more than 70 countries have been certified according to FSC standards while several thousand products are produced using FSC-certified wood and carrying the FSC trademark.
  • FSC operates through its network of National Initiatives in 45 countries
